Hanford Area Economic Investment Fund Advisory Committee Granting $150,000 for Next Phase of Columbia Gardens

Kennewick, WA – On Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. in the Port of Kennewick Commission Chambers located at 350 Clover Island Drive in Kennewick, Bob Koch, Chair of the Hanford Area Economic Investment Fund Advisory Committee will be presenting a $150,000 grant check to Port of Kennewick and City of Kennewick officials. The HAEIFAC grant will be used toward infrastructure improvements for the second phase of the joint Columbia Gardens Urban Wine & Artisan Village revitalization project in Kennewick’s historic waterfront district.

The Columbia Gardens Urban Wine & Artisan Village is a Port of Kennewick-owned development site located between Columbia Drive and Clover Island Drive, adjacent to Duffy’s Pond and Clover Island in Kennewick, Washington. The Port and City will receive a total of $1.1 million in Benton County Rural County Capital Funds to support the majority of Phase 2 expenses; however, with interest rates, material, and labor costs increasing the Port and City are thrilled to receive the HAEIFAC grant—which will help to ensure completion of public amenities as planned. Phase 2 costs include roads, parking, storm drainage, lighting, landscaping, signage, food truck cluster, and a public plaza. Completion of Phase 2 is anticipated for summer 2018; making shovel-ready parcels on the East Columbia Drive waterfront available for private-sector commercial investment.

The goal of the project is make public infrastructure improvements that will attract businesses and jobs, and bring a renewed vitality to Kennewick’s historic waterfront.
